20th March 2013: Last weekend saw a very enjoyable, well attended meeting of the North Queensland Branch.  Bowen truly showed us North Queensland hospitality and due to the efforts of Chief Tiff Kev Marengo and our newest members Brian and Janice Germain, the RSL really made us feel welcome.

Friday night saw an informal Meet and Greet, with the chef and his team at the RSL preparing a sumptuous meal for us. We were hosted again Saturday by the RSL, who don't normally open Saturdays, out of tourist season.

The meeting gave us a chance to brief the whole branch on SUBCON and assign tasks to various members. Brian who is secretary of the RSL, organised a BBQ brunch for us following the meeting.

On the subject of SUBCON 2013, there are many who have nominated interest in attending, who have yet to pay for their functions. We realize that everyone will be focused on Easter at the moment, but we will need to seriously consider payment as April passes. If you no longer intend coming to SUBCON 2013, please let us know, so we are aware of the numbers that we need to cater for.

Our next meeting will be our AGM, held at the Ingham RSL 13 July 2013, after Subcon.  Our Christmas meeting will be back to the Bowen RSL Saturday 9 November 2013.

21st January 2013:  The Branch announced the prices for SUBCON 2013 events and an online National Web based Raffle to raise funds for SUBCON.  ALL monies raised will be used lower the prices of events for Subcon 2013.  Tickets will also be sold at the Meet and Greet and other events over the weekend.

21st November 2012  The Branch held it’s last meeting for the year at the Herbert River RSL club. Although not a record breaking attendance, all that turned up for the meeting and Christmas dinner afterwards, had a good time. BZ to Irwin Schleicher for organising the RSL venue.
It was great to see a few faces that we hadn’t seen for a little while. Bruce Dunster and Alan Short came down from Cairns and Coyote Wyatt came up from Bargara for the meeting. It was also good to see Kev Marengo up from Bowen in his new 4X4 ( red one…….goes much faster).

The RSL who have always supported us well and who have been our major donor for Subcon to date, once again made us feel extremely welcome. They are one of the few clubs that you will find today, that are still in control of their assets and run the place with ex-servicemen in mind.  The president, secretary and a committee member joined us for dinner.

Our next meeting will be at the Bowen RSL with Chief Tiff Marengo at the helm. This meeting will be 16^th March and will be the last meeting before Subcon.

14th July 2012:  The Submarines Association Australia, North Queensland Branch Inc, held it's AGM on Saturday 14 July 2012 at the Haliday Bay Resort.
