SUBCON 2009

To be held in Fremantle on the Queen's Birthday long weekend, commencing

Friday 6th June 2009 

The Branch would like to invite you to fremantle and surrounding area to partake of our hospitality and to visit the many interesting and varied places contained within our region.

16-17th August 2008 TAS Dinner Dance & AGM

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Tasmanian branch on 9 August 1998. We will celebrate this auspicious occasion over the weekend of  in Hobart. We would love to hear from you and, even better, see you again if you can make it along that weekend.

At this stage plans are still being finalised, but there will likely be a dinner on the Saturday night with the AGM on the Sunday forenoon followed by a lunch.

30th August 2008 1100 WA Extraordinary Meeting - AGM Strattons Hotel in the upstairs bistro.  
31st August 2008 WA GM and Lunch A short Meeting followed by Lunch at RAMON"s Restaurant at Willow Ponds, 459 Nicholson Road Canning Vale. Lunch will be after a tour and presentation by Ray. All details are available on the website.

Members are requested to advise Paul Meakin by 16 August of their intentions.  Bring Mum and any submariner that want to catch up with mates.
14th September 2008 1130 NSW General Meeting Proposed to try and have at Platypus with a BBQ and small memorial service.
19th September 2008 1430-1700 WA General Meeting

The meeting will be held at L3-Nautronix, 108 Marine Terrace Fremantle Hosted by Peter Horobin who will give a Presentation on Nautronix Naval Business followed by Beer and Pizza at Little Creatures Brewery.  Contact Paul Meakin for details.

11/12th October 2008 QLD Wine Weekend & Dinner

 

 The Branch will meet at Stanthorpe for a social weekend, wining and dining. 

We decided to have the meeting in Stanthorpe for 2 reasons:

  • To be inclusive of northern N.S.W. and
  • To be social

So come on NSW Northern Rivers and anyone else who wants to come and join us.

11th October - Pick-up from Motels 9.30am

U.SofA Residents - ANZAC Memorial Service
Les Figg, an ex-Pussers Greenie (LEMWR) living in Santa Clara, CA (served from July 1963 until November 1969, serving in HMAS Sydney, Hawk and Perth.) has, for the past 4 years, organised a Meet & Greet which has turned into an ANZAC Memorial in Cayucos, CA. Les has a core group of 12 regular participants, with 4 or 5 others who have been once or more and he welcomes any and all ex-Pussers to participate. Unfortunately the local hotel that is used is pretty full that weekend and can’t accommodate them on the 25th so Les has made a tentative reservation for the previous weekend – April 18/19.   If you know of any ex-Pussers living in the US, please pass on Les's contact details.

Submariners Association of Canada West - 2008 Gathering
I hear that arrangements are progressing nicely for the SAOC 2008 Submariners Gathering, May 2-3-4, in Victoria, BC. are progressing well and Ray Hunt, Commanding Officer of both Rainbow and  Okanagan, has confirmed as Guest of Honour. A reminder that registrations received prior to February 29th are eligible for our Early Bird Draw for refund of one person's registration fee ... on-line details and a downloadable Registration Form are available on the SAOC West website.
